Semi-permanent Eyebrows for Alopecia
As I have written about before on the blog, semi-permanent brows can be so much more powerful than just another beauty treatment, and especially so when it comes to alopecia.
Some of my most memorable clients since I began offering eyebrow embroidery have been those with alopecia. Alopecia is an autoimmune disease, meaning the body’s immune system basically turns on itself. With alopecia, the red blood cells attack the hair follicles. Not only can it affect the hair on your head, it can also have a major impact on your body hair, including eyebrows and eyelashes.
I am not the expert on this, so I asked one of my lovely clients to tell me about their experience with the condition, and she told me how semi-permanent eyebrows helped give her back her confidence:
“It is a very personal and sensitive issue as you never know when or if it will come back. It’s the uncertainty of it all that can be quite distressing. Everybody deals with it in different ways. Some people are happy just to wear headwear, it’s a personal choice. A wig for me is vitally important; it’s part of getting dressed every morning. I feel like it makes me blend in and gives me confidence.
“Losing your eyebrows can make you feel lost, non-descript. It is like there is something missing from your face, which of course there is.
“My new brows have given me a new-found confidence. I can’t stop looking at myself. It is like they have brought my face alive. They are so natural with a great shape. I am now showing off my forehead and the amount of people complimenting me is incredible. Sherise is so talented in what she does. Her work is impeccable. Her precision means that every eyebrow she works on is a true work of art.”
I am so thrilled to receive such lovely feedback from a client, but also to hear how eyebrow embroidery has made a difference in her life. The power of eyebrows cannot be underestimated – they frame our faces and highlight our unique features. Semi-permanent eyebrows can be a Godsend if you feel you no longer look like yourself as a result of a medical condition.
