How to protect your eyebrow embroidery this summer.

The sun finally came out last week and those of you who’ve had eyebrow embroidery will need to add an extra step to your sun protection!
For brows that have just had the procedure, I recommend avoiding the sun (or tanning beds – but you should avoid these anyway!) for at least a week. This gives the fresh pigment time to “bed in”. Obviously you have to leave the house!
It’s also worth avoiding swimming pools during this time; the chlorine may also affect the pigment. This doesn’t happen in every case, but it is worth being cautious.
After the eyebrow area has healed, I recommend using SPF to avoid your eyebrow embroidery from any fading in strong sunlight, and here’s a little tip: buy a cheap lip balm with SPF and slick it over your eyebrows before heading out if it’s sunny.
A lot of my clients come to me in advance of the summer to have eyebrow embroidery; if you usually draw in your eyebrows, the heat and humidity can mean that brow pencils and other products tend to slide off more easily. For those if you who are thinking about having it done, it’s worth bearing in mind eyebrow embroidery can’t be done if you’re sunburned, or have had lots of sun exposure in recent days.
As a skin specialist, I have seen first-hand the damage the sun can do to skin – did you know UV rays account for 80% of skin ageing, including wrinkles and dark spots? I recommend daily use of a high SPF broad spectrum sunscreen, which protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
Whether you’re heading abroad or just sunning yourself out the back garden, protect your eyebrow embroidery this summer!
